Laureana(sa), ancient village of the Cilento, is situated 452 meters above sea level, between chestnut woods and vast olive groves. Its dominant position consents to admire the enchanting sight of the whole gulf of Salerno and the chain of the mountains Alburni.

The village, remained intact in the times, includes numerous baronial mansions(Del Mercato, Sanseverino, Cagnano), noble chapels(SS.Annunziata and Acqua Santa) and ancient stone houses of the antisans and peasants that lived in the several ‘contradas’.

In the past Laureana gave hospitality to several important personalities as Luisa Sanfelice, protagonist of the Neapolitan Revolution (1799).

In Laureana Cilento there’s the “Comunità Montana Alento- Monte Stella”, that belongs to the “National Park of the Cilento and Vallo of Diano”. In this area is produced an oil of good quality (D.O.C.) and the figs ‘dottati’.

In August takes place the Festival of S.Lorenzo, a review of classical music in the “Castellum Lauri”. Then are opened the ancient courts that receiveart exhibitions and the selling of typical products.

From Laureana you can easly go to the archeological sites of Paestum and Velia, the medieval castles of Rocca Cilento, Castellabate, Vatolla and Agropoli and the beaches of S.Marco, Ogliastro, Pollica and Acciaroli, the natural park of “Punta Licosa”. In Laureana there are also several paths of the Park for excursions.

Blu di Prussica is established by the painter Palombo and Rosanna Magna in the premises of a ancient house in the village center.
